Organize Your Existing Data
Splunk likes to brag that it can ingest data from anywhere. This is a big claim, and from what we’ve experienced it is completely true. You can take in anything from structured MySQL databases to the log files you never look at sitting on a server somewhere. Best of all, they can all be displayed in real time on a simple to use dashboard. If that’s not convenience, we don’t know what is.
Troubleshoot on the Fly
Long gone are the days of responding to a crisis after the damage has been done. Splunk dashboards allow you to monitor all of your systems at once, so when a problem occurs you can starting looking for a solution even before anyone notices what happened – or even better see issues before they happen and be proactive!

At SPHERE it seems like we have a script for everything – reporting, automation, and other day to day tasks. Not only can Splunk organize all the output from the scripts, but it can schedule your already existing scripts to run and then automatically feed them into your Splunk server. The possibilities are endless.

Before we started using Splunk we had high hopes for all of the features we wanted it to do, but we never expected how much fun it would be to use. There is something incredible about creating beautifully organized charts and graphs from the usual chaos that is unstructured and machine data.
