What Keeps You Up at Night?

We talk to a lot of people in the “C” suite – particularly CISO’s. We ask them what worries them most. The responses are as varied as the executives themselves. But what is predominant is the role that data plays in their minds. Whether it’s a data breach, new regulations, audits, etc. it all has at it’s core the need to understand what data they have, who has access, how they access it and what rules for governance are in place. It’s data in motion, data at rest, human- and machine-generated data.

The phrase “Big Data” and who should have responsibility for that data has become an issue. Do you have a “Data Scientist” at your company – should they have access to everything? Now there’s a new title – CDO, Chief Data Officer, and what the expectations and responsibilities for that role are seem to be a moving target. But, there’s enough to write about there for a full blog post.  (coming soon!)

So, you have a lot of data, you have a lot of people who want access, you have fears of breaches, audits, and regulations…and then you have Heartbleed…undetected for over 2 years – sleep well, because there’s always something to worry about, even if you don’t know what it is.
